Summer Bundle 2026

Continuing the tradition I have put together a list of papers I plan to read through the summer break.

The Summer 2026 Research Bundle includes 10 papers focusing on hardware side-channels, it is a mix of topics but heavily relaying on hardware security and low-level attack; below is the table of contents. Here are a few highlights from the compile:

  • Protocol Prying (arXiv): Reverse engineering and fuzzing the undocumented, proprietary proximity stacks behind Apple AirDrop and Android Quick Share.
  • Bit2Watt (CHES 2026): A wild cyber-physical attack where a malicious data center tenant modulates GPU workloads at high frequencies to induce power oscillations. This destabilizes the local power grid and propagates back to disrupt neighboring computing nodes.
  • Active EM Side-Channel Analysis (CHES 2026): Demonstrating how to bypass physical tamperproof boundaries. The authors use internal relay points to propagate electromagnetic leakage from secure ICs to the outside.
  • Banshee (IEEE S&P 2026): Tricking gimbal-stabilized visual tracking systems on autonomous UAVs into switching targets using targeted acoustic injections.
  • Turn Your Face Into An Attack Surface (USENIX Security 2026): Showing how video conferencing feeds can leak private on-screen information via the subtle optical reflections off a user’s face.
